This Dynamic Gentle Yoga class includes accessible joint warm-ups, invigorating breath practices, and an innovative sequence of gentle movements and poses for increasing strength and improving flexibility with a simple focus on alignment precision. Standing movements and poses help to improve balance.  A variety of simple moves loosen hips and spine, while a restorative pose and guided deep relaxation ensures your body gets to rest. The final portion of the class is a gentle breath practice and meditation, for which you may either stay on the mat or move to a chair.

Gather these tools ahead of time to use during the class:

  • Sturdy chair without armrests (no wheels) for support for some standing poses/movements and/or for seated portions of the class if you prefer sitting on a chair instead of the floor
  • For Mary’s class: Tennis ball or rolling therapy tool for feet
  • Yoga strap (substitutes: men’s necktie, bathrobe belt, long neck scarf)
  • Two yoga blocks (substitutes: 2 stacks of books bound together or small stool)
  • Cushion(s), pillow(s) or folded blanket(s)
  • Optional:  Eye pillow for relaxation

Rudy, you are simply THE BEST! Thursday Mat Yoga is definitely becoming a must-attend practice. The benefit I felt this evening on Zoom was as good as attending your workshop in person, if anything it's more intimate. Your class loosened all my joints and I feel so much better. I really appreciate your focus on balancing practices for part of the class. You build such a solid warrior pose that balancing was easy and your cueing of the tree pose was outstanding.
